Hair loss and Weight Loss Hand In HandHair Loss and Weight LossIs there a direct relationship between hair loss and weight loss? Yes there is. First you need to understand just how the hair follicle works and how it grows or in some cases, stops growing. Within each hair follicle is a dermal papilla, which is the fuel take for the follicle and is directly responsible for hair growth. There are androgen recrptors that capture nutrients from our blood stream and feed them into the dermal papilla. If the follicle does not receive nutrients (vitamins and minerals) it starts to slow the rate of growth much the same as a car running out of gas and coasting to a stop. What happens next? The hair growth cycle begins to slow with the lasck of nutrients and will shorten the growing phase known as the Anagen stage but can also increase the Catagen stage or the resting phase. Like the rest of the body this is called the starving or miniaturization of the hair follicle causing it to shrink making the hair smaller and finer and eventually in time fall out. Some people will spring into a weight loss, crash diet, where they stop eating or eat small amounts of just one type of food like cabbage or Tuna. This can shock the system creating stress in the body which can also cause hair loss. Any diet should still include foods that you can acheive weight loss without hair loss. This means cutting back on the fatty foods and start increasing the foods that can deliver the required nutrients to you hair follicles. When most people diet they do loss weight but they also cut back on key vitamins which directly affect hair loss. Key vitamins include the B vitamins, specifically vitamin B5, B6, biotin, inositol and folic acid, plus key minerals like magnesium, zince and sulfur. The B5 vitamin (pantothenic acid) and B3 (niacin), are key for hair growth but most weight loss diets exclude these. You can slo reference our complete list of vitamins for hair loss for more detail. While trying to acheive weight loss, you can help prevent hair loss by simply eating healty and the best way to remember what can help hair is fruits, vegtables and nuts, all of which you should be trying to include in your weight loss diet anyway. *Recommended PROVEN and Most Popular hair loss vitamins: Provillus Men Pills, Provillus Women Pills, Advecia Pills, Procerin Pills and the all NEW Trichozed.
